Independence Day Celebration

17th June is the Independence Day of Iceland. Independence Day is the major annual event in Iceland for two reasons. Iceland gained independence from Denmark and it was the Birthday of Jon Sigurðsson. Jón Sigurðsson was the leader of 19th century's Independent Movement in Iceland.

The Icelandic Association of Washington, D.C., Inc  and the Ambassador and his wife Albert Jónsson and Ása Baldvinsdóttir invite you to celebrate with us Iceland’s Independence Day. This event will be held at the Ambassador’s residence on June 14th from 3pm to 6pm.  The Icelandic Association of Washington, D.C., Inc. Board Members would like to use this opportunity and thank the Ambassador and his wife for opening their home to us for this celebration. The Ambassadors residence is located at:
